Course Content

On our Corrective Manual Therapy ‘Unlock the Spine’ two day Seminar you will learn practical and effective approaches for finding and treating chronic pain problems associated with Chronic Back pain, Lumbar lordosis, Hyper and Hypo Kyphosis, Scoliosis, Dowagers, forward head posture and Swayback posture affecting the Pelvis, lumbar spine, thoracic and cervical spine. You will practice pain-free techniques that simultaneously address joint issues, utilise neurological responses and treat soft tissues to increase hydration and pliability.

Course Syllabus

This visually stimulating ‘Unlock the Spine’ seminar is based on Aubrey Gowing’s assessment and treatment protocols. This sequencing can help therapists quickly identify and treat common pain-producing conditions such as Forward head posture and Shoulder Pain, Thoracic outlet, elbow and wrist pain. This seminar is specially designed for practicing therapists who wish to dramatically improve treatment outcomes and shorten the route to success with each client.

This seminar includes techniques and treatment sequences for:

Correcting Pelvic dysfunction:

• Rotation
• Torsion
• Up-slip
• Hip hike and QL dysfunction
• Iliac inflare and outflare
• Leg length difference – true and apparent

Lumbar spine:

• Closing locked open facet joints
• Opening locked closed facet joints
• Releasing adhesion
• Connective Tissue Massage
• Myofascial release techniques
• Addressing deep muscle fibrosis

Thoracic spine & Ribs:

• Closing locked open facet joints
• Opening locked closed facet joints
• Mobilise the rib articulations
• Treatment of Erector spinae dysfunction
• Dowager’s Hump correction

Cervical spine:

• Closing locked open facet joints
• Opening locked closed facet joints
• Myofascial release
• Treatment of Scalene dysfunction
• Treatment of O/A joint dysfunction

Course Requirements

Recommended to bring to class:

• 1 Pillow
• 1 Towel
• A pair of shorts
• Comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended e.g. polo top/t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms/leggings and trainers are ideal.
