On our two day ‘Corrective Manual Therapy’ seminar for ‘Neck and Upper Extremity issues‘ you will learn some of the most effective approaches for assessing and treating chronic Cervical, Thoracic and Upper Extremity pain problems. You will practice pain-free techniques that simultaneously address joint issues, utilise neurological responses and treat soft tissues to increase hydration and pliability.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This innovative Neck and Upper Extremity seminar is based on Aubrey Gowing’s assessment, treatment and home care protocols. This sequencing can help therapists quickly identify and treat common Sports injuries and overuse conditions such as Forward head posture and Rotator Cuff injury, Thoracic outlet, Golfers elbow, Tennis elbow and Carpal tunnel. The Neck – Supine:

  • Myofascial treatment – The velvet glove
  • GTO techniques
  •  Treat the scalenes and their attachments
  • Assess and mobilise upper ribs
  • Decompress the cervical spine
  • Assess and treat the cervical facet joints
  • Restore ROM
  • Home care for the neck

The Shoulder

  • Myofascial release for Pectoralis major & minor
  • STR for the attachment of platysma and subclavius
  •  Myofascial treatment for Subclavius
  • Assess and treat  Subacromial impingement
  • Myofascial treatment for deltoid
  • Myofascial treatment for Bicep & Tricep
  • STR for Bicep & Tricep
  • Myofascial technique for Infraspinatus & Supraspinatus

The Arm – Supine:

  • Myofascial treatment for Bicep & Tricep
  • STR for Bicep & Tricep
  • Myofascial treatment applied to the forearm flexors
  • Active engagement
  • STR applied to the tendons of the wrist flexors

Wrist and forearm extensors

  • Assess & treat the carpals and extensor retinaculum
  • Myofascial technique applied to the forearm extensors

  • Active engagement for the extensors

The Hand

  • Treating Trigger Fingers (Tenosynovitis)
  • Mobilising the carpal, metacarpal / pharyngeal and inter-pharyngeal joints
